Milledge Sweet Shoelaces, WDVE’s Jim & Randy, and Other Random Snapshots from Pirates One-hit Loss

The Pittsburgh Pirates were one-hit by Yusmeiro Petit in a 6-0 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks last night.  Yeh, that Petit.  The same Diamondbacks pitcher whose fastball rarely reached 88mph.  The Pirates were shut down by the same pitcher who less than two weeks ago was rocked by the Pirates. On July 24 the Pirates tagged Petit for six runs and nine hits in 4.1 innings of a 10-3 loss.

The Pirates were said to have driven Petit to the minors, but key injuries to the Snakes staff kept him around.  After last night the Pirates might have kept him in the majors permanently.  Petit brought a 1-5 record and  a 6.75 ERA to PNC Park.  Who saw this coming?

Key fact:  My son and I have never saw the Pirates win a game together.  Last night was yet another loss suffered by the Pirates while Brody and I were in attendance.  So, it’s our fault.  How else do you explain it?

Let’s break it down by simply saying sweet and bitter tonight.
