One PNC to Another PNC: Scranton to See Last of Pedro Alvarez in AAA
By Tom Smith

From one PNC to another PNC, Pedro Alvarez is going to see the last of AAA baseball beginning at 7:05 tonight at PNC Field. The Indianapolis Indians will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees with pitcher Romulo Sanchez on the bump.
And if all goes well, at roughly 10pm, a call will be made to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. The call will be to summon the most powerful Pittsburgh Pirates prospect since Barry Bonds to PNC Park to become part of the major league club.
At least that is the Pedro Alvarez dream we are believing in tonight. The rumors have been rampant and we just have a feeling Alvarez has checked off his prospect-do list from the Pirates front office and is ready to put on the big league jersey.
Pedro Alvarez has done what was expected.
In 190 minor league games, he has hit 40 bombs. The Pittsburgh Pirates 3B is currently sitting at a .285 average with 13 homers and 52 RBI at Class AAA Indianapolis.
Alvarez also has went down on strikes 66 times, it sure does appear that he is going to strikeout a ton. He is working on it though. Alvarez has cut his strikeout-to-walk ratio down to 42-to-24 over his last 153 at-bats. (A recent stretch of 12 strikeouts in his past 36 at-bats with five walks didn’t do much to help his cause.)
But Alvarez has really been hitting better against LHP in 64 games this season: .323/.408/.661 with a 1.070 OPS.
One more reason we feel good about the call is Pedro Alvarez produces numbers. In his past ten games, Alvarez has put this together .480OBP/ .778 SLG/ 1.266 OPS
You should still have time to make the trip. And follow it up with a drive over to this PNC for his debut
