Huntington and Alvarez Head Back To Minors

We were criticial of Pittsburgh Pirates GM Neal Huntington last year when he mentioned during his radio show

that he would spend some time with his family during the All Star break.  There is so much work to do.

So we were anxious to hear what his plans were this year.  On Sunday we had all RumBunter ears listening to the show.  We heard nothing.  No indication of any plans.  Well, he has learned from his past we thought.  Just keep it quiet.  We calculated, he was probably off for a few days to enjoy some sunshine.   We were wrong.

The Pirates minor leagues has been the focus for Huntington and with the recent struggles system wide, we couldn’t think of a better place to be.  Did you find it odd he didn’t address the teams?  I think it would be a nice touch, but I guess sometimes Neal prefers a flyover approach.    One would think he would visit more, perhaps he just wanted to take it all in at State one more time.  After all, it is one of the best places on the planet.

Pedro Alvarez went back to Central Pennyslvania as well.  The countryside has star power.   Here is the story on Alvarez stopping by to see his  old team, the suddenly cooling Altoona Curve.    Altoona Mirror.
