Pedro Alvarez

was back on the field for limited action after missing Monday’s workout with neck spasms.

Friends at Pirate City said that Jose Tabata looks better both at the plate (shots) and in the field (throwing bb’s.)

Jose Ascanio had some pain in his elbow and was rested.  SOB.

Garrett Atkins worked at 1B.  He was reportedly a little rusty.

The pitchers who did not throw off a mound today took part in the daily active warm-up before participating in bunting and fielding drills.

All pitchers participated in the daily team drill  which was first and third base defense.

The pitchers who threw off the mounds to hitters were off the fields by 1:15.

All position players took BP after going through all the daily drills, ran the bases as a conditioning exercise and were off the fields by 1:45.

Manager Clint Hurdle announced the following pitchers would throw in the 7-inning exhibition game against State College of Florida on Friday.

Aaron Thompson–Interesting pick to start the game.

Tyler Yates–He should be very fun to watch.  If he can’t throw strikes against the Manatees how will he in Spring Training games.  Maybe I am speaking too soon.

Jeff Locke–Colin Dunlap has been writing about his athletic ability at the PG+ Blog.   Should be fun to see the lefty again.

Mike Crotta–I am looking forward to seeing if Crotta added anything this offseason.  Could he eventually fill a long relief role for the Bucs or is he trade fodder?

Justin Wilson–Of all the pitchers throwing on Friday, this is who I want to watch the most.  The guy described as having huge balls.

Kyle McPherson –He’s a double black belt.  Please, please, please charge the mound Manatees.

Rudy Owens–The phenom.
