Pirates Caffeine: Freddy Returns

facebooktwitterreddit

Not sure about you, but the San Francisco Giants series will make me sick.

The Giants are looking to get it together.  The Pirates are battling and have been known to be dominated by strong pitching.  But mainly the sickness comes from the fact that we can fully expect to hear the following:

1.  Freddy Sanchez loves Pittsburgh.

2.  Freddy Sanchez won a championship when he left Pittsburgh.

3.  Repeat.

Sean Gallagher is proving at AAA Indianapolis that he isn’t a starter. Would anyone else be ok with the Bucs giving someone else a shot? Columbus is a very solid club and Gallagher hasn’t got it done issuing eight walks over 7.2 innings against the Clippers to go with twelve hits. He gave up five more walks yesterday in the first game of a double-header for Indy.

The Tribe would lose both games.  Taking a look at the lineup their doesn’t seem anyone ready to make a move, nor has anyone got off to a scorching hot start outside of Alex Presley.  Let’s trust the old adage this is a marathon and not a sprint.

Some bad news:

Andrew Lambo is now under .200.

Pedro Ciriaco is hitting .123 after an 0-for-4 in the 6-5 second game loss.

Andy Marte is also having an awful start to his season.

Some good news:

Alex Presley hit a bomb and bumped his average to .333. He now has hit safely in four straight games.

Serious wood:  Tim Wood pitched a scoreless inning for the fourth straight game.

Bryce Harper didn’t get a ball out of the infield. Damn, where have I seen that before? It didn’t matter as Cameron Selik of the Suns dominated the Power hitters. He’s a stud.

Check out what Harper had to say:

"The fans are there to watch you play and you got to treat them with respect, I’m going to sign for little kids and I’ll sign for them all day."
