Pirates Caffeine: Pedro Alvarez Is Michael Myers

Paul Maholm goes today against the Chicago Cubs. He threw 6+ scoreless innings at Wrigley on April 2. He left with a 3-0 lead, but of course wouldn’t get the win as the Bucs blew the lead.
Not sure if you noticed, but Maholm has thrown 61.2 innings this season and has allowed 55 hits. Let’s trust this trend continues.

Pedro Alvarez will hit, but not run. We laughed at first, but it makes sense.
"“I’ve never seen this happen before other than in fantasy-camp games,” Hurdle said. “He’s actually going to bat and not run. But you can do it in extended spring games. They’ll just go get it, fetch it like a Frisbee, throw it back in and the next guy will come up.”"

Bryan Morris has been back for nine days. Can he stick?

Randy Wells goes for the Cubs today. Wells knows something about lack of run support. He received the fourth lowest support in 2010.
