All Rise for Pirates King Chris Resop
By Tom Smith
Chris Resop has the beard. The regal look of a king. And he inherits other Pirates pitchers problems like a diplomat.
Last season we jokingly called the right hander the King of the Scrapheap with his impressive performances for the Pirates after Neal Huntington and company nabbed him off the Atlanta Braves.
Resop has inherited 39 runners, the most in the majors. He has struckout six of the past eleven batters he has faced. He has given up just one hit when the enemy has runners in scoring position in their last 20 at bats. Peril doesn’t faze the King.
Resop has represented the Pirates faithful followers well when he exits his throne in the bullpen. Just look at what Resop has put up in his past thirty games.
