Pirates Caffeine: Pedro Alvarez, Jeff Clement, Starling Marte

Two games, two bombs for Pedro Alvarez.

With AAA baseball games vanishing the Pittsburgh Pirates slugger is finding his power stroke. Last nights grand slam went even further than Sunday’s game winner.

Now that’s great news.

Jeff Clement is still alive. He is also hitting .160 in his past ten games with ten strikeouts.

Starling Marte is on a tear right now. He’s played well all season, but the past ten games have been insane. Marte broke Nate McLouth’s Altoona Curve hit record last night and now stands at 168 on the season. Damn that makes me smile.

In the past ten games, Marte is hitting .415. (He leads the league in hitting) In the past ten games, he is slugging .732 and has an OPS of 1.221. Talk about hot.  Unreal.
