Vicente Padilla Rumors Don’t Include Pirates

Earlier this week, it was reported that Pirates were going to take a look at Vicente Padilla.  With the Bucs offering quite a few minor league deals to gain some pitching depth, we decided to check it out as it made some sense.  Here is  the post in case you missed it.

The Padilla-to-Pirates buzz peaked about that time. Apparently, the Bucs weren’t really interested.  So, with the Bucs out of the way, a new story has popped up.

In the more recent Padilla rumors, the Pirates aren’t mentioned, and it’s being reported that the Boston Red Sox are taking a look at the right hander.  Padilla might have made a trip to Boston yesterday to meet with their medical staff.

Who knows w’sup with Padilla, but we do know that the Bucs haven’t signed a pitcher today.  Yet.

Fan Graphs believes that Padilla is a high-risk, medium-reward type of player.
