Look Who Is Coming to Spring Training for the Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates made the move

we were curious about today with their six non-roster invites to Spring Training.

The team has asked Michael Crotta and Eric Fryer to come as they had some java in the bigs last season.  That makes sense.

Florida State League hitting sensation Ramon Cabrera and the Pirates 2011 Minor League Player of the Year Robbie Grossman got tickets to have their names on the back of their jerseys after solid seasons in the minors.  While 2009 fourth-overall pick Tony Sanchez didn’t have a big year, he will also be in camp as the presumed Pirates catcher of the future.

But the big move was the 2011 Pirates first-round selection Gerrit Cole.  We truly don’t believe he has a shot in hell at making it to the majors as some have talked about this offseason, but it’s pretty cool he will get a chance to strut his stuff.

I like it already.

But I wonder how Jameson Taillon feels today.  I bet that was a tense conversation.
