Video: Gerrit Cole Line Drived. [Can’t Hurt Steel]
Pittsburgh Pirates stud pitcher Gerrit Cole took a line drive to the neck last night. But he is available for activity today according to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
It typically doesn’t turn out this way for the Buccos. The list of tragic events to top draft picks is quite lengthy.
Cole recorded two quick outs in the first inning against the Nationals AA farm team the Harrisburg Senators. He then allowed back-to-back singles that scored a run.
Then near disaster struck….Destin Hood of Harrisburg hit a rocket that hit off off Cole’s glove, with the ball striking him in the neck/face area.
You can see Cole touching his neck in the video.
Two hitters later, Cole was hit again with a line drive. Cole left the game due to his pitch count one inning limit Kyle Stark was quoted on last night. He threw 33 pitches.
The Pirates tweeted this a bit ago: The CT scan on Gerrit Cole was negative and his only symptom is a contusion on his jaw. He will be available for activity today.
Take a deep breath Pirates fans.
