Run Pedro Alvarez, Run [Video/GIF]

Pedro Alvarez has been showing off his speed in San Diego as the Pirates battle the Padres.  El Toro is a big man listed at six foot three inches and 235 pounds, so the baserunning highlights are usually of Andrew McCutchen, not the Big Bull.

But that hasn’t been the case over the past two days.

Last night, Alvarez hit a slow pitch softball homer when he circled the bags in 16.2 seconds after his single went right past the Friars right fielder Chris Denorfia.

The slide was the best of the season for Alvarez who is currently tied with Paul Goldschmidt for the National League lead in home runs.

Tonight after ripping a triple, Pirates infielder Jordy Mercer couldn’t help but flash the horns and scrape his right spike on the floor of the tiny Padres visitors dugout.

The GIF is courtesy of @27imokemp on twitter who did some quick work on one of the funniest things we have seen Jordy Mercer do in his short career.

The video of the Alvarez triple is available here.

It features the second best slide of the season by ElToro, the pop-up slide instantly into a leg-lift, finished with a Zoltan Gang symbol flash to the Bucs dugout.

Greg Brown stated what everyone was feeling, it was the running of the Bull.
