The Chicago Cubs Are Scary Young/Suddenly Awesome Now Post

In case you missed it, the Chicago Cubs are on fire.  The team is not the team you are used to beating up any longer.  And they are doing it with a ton of players you have probably not heard of…yet.  The Cubs didn’t have much choice in large part thanks to an injury report as long as the Dock Ellis Documentary that hits today.

Of course, the Cubs blog Cubby Blue details it all so very well.  If you have a chance, go check out Tim’s work.  Example below:

The Chicago Cubs are 22-15 in their past 37 games.  Only the Wasthington Nationals are better over that period of time.

The Cubs have won six games in a row.

The Cubs are young as hell and don’t even really realize what is happening, just that they are awesome.

The Cubs starters have an ERA of 1.50 during the six game winning streak.

The Cubs bullpen has allowed just one earned run in 20 innings pitched during the winning streak.

Jorge Soler is really good and off to a fast start with ten hits and ten RBI in his first seven games.  Be sure to pronounce Soler correctly too

Cubs third basemen have hit 26 bombs this year.  Can you name one of them?

Seven rookie pitchers have combined to win 14 games, put up an ERA under three, save three games and hold 28 others.

14 rookies have played for the Cubs with nine making their ML debut this season.

These young Cubs score runs in bunches, five runs a game during the winning streak.

The Chicago Cubs are raising ticket prices too.  Great.  Even more revenue to invest in young talent.

But, obviously the Cubs haven’t faced the Vanimal recently.  Go Bucs.
