The Pittsburgh Pirates went 3-3 in their games this week, though if you were to ask many fans, it was a disappointment. Coming back home after a 7-3 road trip that included a 2-1 series win over the Braves, fans were pumped up to welcome a lousy team in the Milwaukee Brewers to PNC Park. Many were predicting a sweep. What transpired was a mix of rain, sloppy play, and wasted starts. After salvaging a game in the Brewers series in impressive fashion, the Pirates are looking to another also-ran in the Philadelphia Phillies to help them jump start their offense and get back to their winnings ways.

But before that happens, let’s take a look at this week’s 25-man Pittsburgh Pirates power rankings.

team. 4. <strong><a href=. #24. Previous: 14th. Pedro Alvarez. 14

4. It gets a little tricky to start ranking the best Pirates of the week when you have a week like <strong><a href=. #18. Previous: 3rd. Neil Walker. 13. team

Previous: 9th. Arquimedes Caminero. 12. team. 4. <strong><a href=. #37

Tony Watson. 11. team. 4. Like many pitchers in the 10-8 slugfest vs the Braves, Watson struggled, allowing three hits and two walks in the 0.2 innings he pitched. In typical Watson fashion, he bounced back with a clean appearance, needing only two pitches to record two outs in the 2-0 win over the Brewers. Watson earned this ranking for his resiliency.. #44. Next we’ll face some tough choices as we try to whittle down the cream of the crop from the past week in Pittsburgh Pirates baseball.

Getting down to the nitty gritty in our power rankings. Here’s the next five.

Gregory Polanco. 10. team. 4. Polanco’s week was a crescendo, starting with a 2-for-4 night with a .255 season average, followed by a 3-for-4 night to raise his average to .266 only to see it fall back to .255 when the week was through, mainly due to some o-for-x games in between. He still remains the Pirates best pure speed threat and can can greatly impact the game via the stolen base.. #25. Previous: 13th

team. 4. Three save opportunies. Three saves. One <strong>unearned </strong>run on two hits in three innings of work. Is there anyone left who still feels <strong><a href=. #35. Previous: 5th. Mark Melancon. 9

4. <strong><a href=. #10. Previous: 10th. Jordy Mercer. 8. team

7. team. 4. <strong><a href=. #47. Previous: 4th. Francisco Liriano

A.J. Burnett. 6. team. 4. <strong><a href=. #34. Previous: 16th
