The Pittsburgh Pirates are giving people what they want. And so are we.

We here are at Rumbunter are nothing if not servants of the people. You, the readers, have spoken and let us know that the weekly power rankings, while very thorough, are also a tad much. Perhaps it was the tedium of ranking Corey Hart vs Antonio Bastardo for the 25th spot, but we agree with you.

So please enjoy the evolution of the power rankings.

Welcome to The Top 10 Bucs of the Week. It’s the same as power rankings, but lighter, better, faster, stronger. We whittle it down to the top 10 Pittsburgh Pirates of the previous week. These rankings are for the week beginning 6/12/15 and running through 6/18/15. Let’s get started with 10 through 8.

10. team. 4. Look, the simple truth is that <strong><a href=. #49. Previous: n/ath. Jeff Locke

team. 4. <strong><a href=. #35. Previous: n/ath. Mark Melancon. 9

Jung ho Kang. 8. team. 4. With <strong><a href=. #27. Previous: n/ath

We continue on with the next three in our Top 10 Pirates of the Week.

Things get a little trickier to quantify as we roll on.

4. Starling Marte is now firmly ensconced in the comfort of batting #2 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has wrapped himself in the warm protection of McCutchen’s bat. Yet he still remains a free swinger, striking out eight times over the week in 34 at bats for a 23.5% strikeout rate. It’s all or nothing for Marte lately, but the ‘all’ has been awesome. Collecting 17 hits, smacking two doubles, picking up four RBI will earn that label. Expect to see him in the #2 spot for quite some time to come.. #6. Previous: n/ath. Starling Marte. 7. team

If the Pirates could have scored in the bottom of the ninth against the Phillies, <strong><a href=. #34. Previous: n/ath. A.J. Burnett. 5. team. 4

Next: #s 4 through 2

We are getting down to the nitty gritty in our weekly top 10 Pittsburgh Pirates of the week.

#45. Previous: n/ath. Gerrit Cole. 4. team. 4. <strong><a href=

Perhaps the function of serving as Marte’s protection boosted Andrew McCutchen to the third overall ranking for the previous week. In addition to above average decent, Cutch turned in another patented Cutch week of games. Going 9-for-29 with five RBI, he continues to be the straw that stirs the Pirates offensive drink.. #22. Our #1 Pittsburgh Pirate of the week signed the richest free-agent contract in Pittsburgh Pirates history.

He is certainly earning it.

Francisco Liriano. 1. team. 4. For a pitcher to take the #1 spot in these rankings, it would take a truly special outing. <strong><a href=. #47. Previous: n/ath
