Pittsburgh Pirates minor matters for June 24th
Draft Pick Update
The Pittsburgh Pirates have one unsigned draft pick remaining from the top fifteen rounds. The lone remaining player is fifth round pick LHP Brandon Waddell from the University of Virginia.
Why am I telling you this? The reason he remains unsigned is because the University of Virginia is currently battling Vanderbilt for the College World Series finals. With the series tied at one, the Virginia Cavaliers will send Brandon Waddell to the mound with the national title on the line in the third and final game on Wednesday Night at 8 PM on ESPN. The lefty will be pitching on three days rest. He last pitched in the decisive game three on Sunday as the Cavaliers knocked off the Florida Gators. He had previously pitched on Monday, June 15th in a 1-0 win over Florida. The Vandy/Virginia matchup is a rematch of the 2014 College World Series in which Vandy won 2-1. During the 2014 series, Waddell picked up the lone win in a complete game 7-2 win.

Tyler Glasnow Update
Tyler Glasnow started last Friday night in Morgantown for the West Virginia Black Bears in a rehab start and only lasted 1.1 innings while allowing three runs and suffering a loss. Glasnow is scheduled to make another rehab start tonight for the Black Bears against the 5-0 Williamsport Crosscutters. The Black Bears are looking to avoid being swept in their first road series of the year. Glasnow is working his way back from an ankle injury he suffered back in early May.
Jameson Taillon Update
Jameson Taillon has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery this season. However, he experienced lower abdominal discomfort after his last start in extended spring training. He will not see game action for until further notice.
Taillon seems to be remaining postive and looking forward to getting back out there.
Andrew Lambo Update
Andrew Lambo has been on the Disabled List since early May with Plantar Fasciitis. According to MLB.com, Andrew Lambo was able to take part in some baseball activities yesterday. “Better days. Able to take some swings, able to throw, able to do some baseball activity,” Neil Huntington said. “But to be a baseball player, still not quite there yet.”
