The Pittsburgh Pirates had a very tough stretch against some of the best teams in the league and came out looking very good. While it’s never easy to beat any Major League team, the Pirates’ schedule did get substantially easier with the Miami Marlins. The Pirates did what good teams do and took three out of the four games against the Fish. They played a mostly solid series and kept pace with the Cardinals in the NL Central division standings.
The Pirates then turned their focus to another struggling team, the Colorado Rockies. The Pirates have been awesome against the NL West this season, going 19-4 (.826) entering the series. Any time a good team plays a bad one, it’s really easy for fans to assume their team is going to over look the opponent, but the Pirates are one of the best teams in the league and they don’t over-look anyone. How would the Pirates fair in their latest series against an NL West team?
The Pirates looked to start the series against the Rockies with a little Filth as Francisco Liriano took to the mound.
