Double-A Altoona Curve

The Altoona Curve went 3-5 over the last week. The Curve dropped three of four in the series at the Bowie Baysox. The Curve wrapped up the regular season by splitting a four game series with the Binghamton Mets. The Curve did hold on to the second playoff spot in the Eastern League Western Division.

Eastern League West Division standings:

Bowie Baysox – 79-63

Altoona Curve – 74-68

Richmond Flying Squirrels – 72-68

Akron RubberDucks – 73-69

Harrisburg Senators – 67-75

Erie SeaWolves – 64-78

Players that stood out:

OF Austin Meadows was called up from Bradenton. He is batting .360 since being called up. He collected nine hits, one RBI, two walks, one stolen base and five strikeouts.

INF Adam Frazier had eight hits, including one home run, three RBIs, five walks and two strikeouts. He saw his average drop slightly to .324.

RHP Jason Creasy leads the team with twelve wins. He had two starts this past week. In his first start, he picked up the win while going six innings and allowing two earned runs on eight hits, one walk and six strikeouts. In his second start, he picked up another win while going six innings and allowing one earned run on four hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

RHP Chad Kuhl has eleven wins this season and leads the team with 101 strikeouts. He suffered a loss in his only start of the week. He went 6.1 innings and allowed one earned run on three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

LHP Zack Dodson has seven wins this season and leads the team with 162 innings pitched. He had two no decisions this week. The first outing was  7.2 innings and he allowed two earned runs on five hits, two walks and six strikeouts. The second outing was seven innings and he allowed just four hits and struck out seven.

LHP Steven Brault picked up his ninth win of the season while going eight innings and allowing three hits and struck out five.

RHP Jhondaniel Medina leads the team with twelve saves.

2B Max Moroff saw his average drop to .293. He collected five hits, three RBIs, four walks, one stolen base and six strikeouts.

OF Andy Vasquez is now batting .239. He had four hits, two RBIs, one walk and one strikeout.

OF Stetson Allie had six hits, including a home run, two RBIs and nine strikeouts and saw his average climb slightly to .205.

INF Jose Osuna had six hits, four RBIs, two walks and eight strikeouts. He is now hitting .288.

A look at next week:

The Curve will host the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday and Thursday in the first two games of the playoff series. Then the series will go to Bowie for the final three games in the best of five series. The winner of the series will face off with the winner of the Reading Fightin Phils/Binghamton Mets series in the championship series.

We now heat up as we head south for a look at the Advanced A Bradenton Marauders.
