- What went right:
- Josh Harrison had two doubles and was fantastic from the lead-off spot. He went 2-5 with a run scored.
- Jaff Decker had his best game as a Pirate. He went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Starling Marte had another big game and may never want to leave Coors Field. He went 4-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Pedro Alvarez was the offensive hero of the game. He hit the deciding three-run home run to set up the win and finish the sweep. He went 1-3 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and a run scored.
- What went wrong:
- Chad Bettis had a pretty solid game as his slider kept the Pirates off-balance for most of the day. He went six innings, allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out six.
- Corey Dickerson continued to be a thorn I the Pirates’ side. He went 2-5 with a run scored.
- Pedro Alvarez was not very sharp in the field as he had a misplay that lead to a Rockies run.
- Jeff Locke was fairly poor again. He wasn’t terrible, but he allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out five.
