The Pittsburgh Pirates are a very good team and they did what they were supposed to do against the struggling Rockies, they swept them and kept the pressure firmly on the Cardinals in the NL Central and kept some distance between themselves and the Chicago Cubs in the Wildcard standings.

The Pirates go from the rebuilding Rockies to the firmly rebuilt Chicago Cubs in arguably the second biggest series of the season. The Pirates had a chance to guarantee themselves at least home field in the Wildcard with a series win and if things went their way, could still keep pace with the Cardinals in the NL Central. No pressure or anything, boys.

Were the Pirates able to bury those pesky North Siders and make sure a potential Wildcard game would be at PNC Park?

The Bucs sent their ace to the mound looking for a game one victory.
