Result: Pirates lose 11-1

Winning Pitcher: Tyler Lyons (3-1, 3.47ERA)

Losing Pitcher: Charlie Morton (9-9, 4.81ERA)

  • What went right:
    • Joe Blanton pitched three really solid innings of relief. He allowed zero runs on one hit and struck out four.
    • Aramis Ramirez had two hits.
    • Chris Stewart doubled in the eighth inning.
    • Jhonny Peralata grounded into a double play.
  • What went wrong:
    • Jason Heyward hit a grand slam to pretty much the game and the division away for the Cardinals. He finished the game going 3-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored.
    • Kolton Wong was his usual Pirates killing self. He went 2-5 with two runs scored.
    • Jhonny Peralta also had another good game against the Pirates. He went 2-4 with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored.
    • The St. Louis Cardinals clinched another NL Central title and got to celebrate inside of PNC Park.
