Pittsburgh Pirates Transactions: April 10 – 16
Every Sunday during the season we’ll bring you an update on any transactions that occur in the Pirates organization. This can range from the major league team to the minors. It will include call-ups, options, designated for assignments, trades, dl moves, etc. Here are the transactions from the past week:
Transaction Log: For the Week of April 10 – 16
4/11 – The Pirates release RHP John Holdzkom. Holdzkom had previously been Designated for Assignment on 4/3.
4/13 – The Pirates selected the contract of RHP A.J. Schugel, promoting him from Indianapolis (AAA) to the Pirates.
4/13 – The Pirates Designated 1B Michael Morse for assignment. This was done to make room for A.J. Schugel on the active roster. Morse is still on waivers and has not been claimed. If he goes unclaimed the Pirates can assign him to AAA. Morse will have the right to deny the assignment and become a free agent.
4/13 – SS Pedro Florimon clears waivers and is outrighted to Indianapolis (AAA). Florimon had previously been Designated for Assignment on 4/3.
4/14 – The Pirates sign RHP Justin Masterson to a Minor League deal.
4/14 – The Pirates placed LHP Cory Luebke on the 15-Day Disabled List due to Right Hamstring Tightness.
4/14 – The Pirates recall RHP Rob Scahill from Indianapolis (AAA) after he came off the bereavement list.
4/14 – RHP Chad Kuhl is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) from Pirates Extended Spring Training.
4/15 – RHP Frank Duncan is assigned to Altoona Curve (AA).
4/15 – RHP John Kuchno is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) from Altoona (AA).
4/16 – Indianapolis (AAA) placed RHP Trevor Williams on the 7-Day Disabled List retroactive to 4/14.
4/16 – RHP Jhondaniel Medina is assigned to Indianapolis (AAA) from Altoona (AA).
The Pirates also will be starting Jung-Ho Kang and Jared Hughes on rehab assignments this week. Kang’s may taking longer than Hughes. Both could be back for the Colorado Rockies series.
