On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Pirates set their rotation for their final series of the season in St. Louis against the Cardinals this weekend.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have just five games remaining in their 2016 season. They have two games remaining with the Chicago Cubs, one tonight and one again tomorrow night. Then this weekend the Pirates travel to Busch Stadium to play three games against the Cardinals.

On Wednesday we found out the Pirates’ rotation this weekend. Well, we now sort of know the starting rotation. I say sort of because we still do not know who will start the season finale on Sunday.

On Friday night Tyler Glasnow will make his fourth career Major League start. This will be Glasnow’s second career start against the Cardinals, with both of these starts having come at Busch Stadium.

This will be followed up with Chad Kuhl making his final start of the season on Saturday afternoon. Just a reminder that Saturday’s game has been moved up to a 1:05 PM first pitch. This is due to Fox Sports picking this game up to be a nationally televised game.

As I said above, Sunday’s starter remains to be announced. Sunday is Ryan Vogelsong‘s turn in the rotation. Hopefully, Vogelsong does not make this start.

There is no sense in starting Ryan Vogelsong on Sunday. The Pittsburgh Pirates should instead start a pitcher that could play a big role in 2017. Personally, I would go with Trevor Williams or Drew Hutchison.

Tyler Glasnow and Chad Kuhl will both be looked upon to play large roles in the Pirates’ rotation in 2017. Due to this, I am very happy that each of them will make one more start this weekend. Hopefully Sunday’s start also goes to someone that could play a large role for the Pirates in 2017.
