Pirates pitchers and catchers are reporting to Spring Training Today! After 134 days with no Pirates baseball, the season is again getting ready to start up.
Last season, the Pittsburgh Pirates struggled. They finished with a record of 78-83, and also had a tie. It was a disappointment, as the Pirates were coming off a three year stretch in which they had the second best record in the game, ultimately resulting in three wild card game appearances.
But it’s a new season, and the best game of all is starting back up today. It’s officially baseball season once again. George Wyle and Edward Polo wrote a song in 1963 called “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year.”
It’s a song about Christmas, and while Christmas is a magical time of the year, we all know the true most wonderful time is when baseball returns… It is time we update the song.
🎶🎶It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With Jameson throwing
And everyone telling you “Be of good cheer”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s the hap-happiest season of all
With those JHay greetings and PNC seatings
When Cole receives the ball
It’s the hap- happiest season of all
There’ll be games for hosting
Hotdogs for roasting
And Greg Brown announcing on radio
There’ll be Walk and Blass stories
And tales of the glories of
Pirates long, long ago
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
There’ll be much rubbers toeing
And beards will be growing
When opening day is here
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
There’ll be games for hosting
Wins for boasting
And rookies up in the show
There’ll be scary Cubs stories
And tales of the glories of
Pirates long, long ago
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
There’ll be much fans going
And Kang will be homering
Opening Day is near
It’s the most wonderful time
It’s the most wonderful time
It’s the most wonderful time
It’s the most wonderful time of the year🎶🎶
