Once a week there will be a Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects roundup on the minor leaguers in the Pirate’s farm system and their stats. With the minor league season being 3 weeks in, it is a good time to start paying attention to the stats posted thus far by the Pittsburgh Pirates Top 30 Prospects.

Below is a list of the Pittsburgh Pirates Top 30 prospects and their numbers so far this season. This article will give you an easy and accessible page to view a prospect’s roundup and how they are performing this year. The hitter stats will include their slash line (average, OBP, and slugging), RBIs, some will have home-runs if they are supposed to be power hitting prospects.  Pitcher stats will include their win-loss record, ERA, and their strikeouts to walks on the season.

The list was created by myself and contributor David Slusser.  We used a comprehensive statistical formula to create the list.  Both formulas take into account most stats and judge how efficient and a hitter have been in their careers and the 2016 season.  Once the numbers were plugged into the formula is resulted in a scored that was then used to help make the order of the list.  Also, other elements were taken into account, such as projectability, tools, and expectations.  With that being said, here is the Rum Bunter’s Top 30 Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects and their stats on the year:

Although most hitters only have about 15 games played and pitchers are 3-4 starts, their numbers are starting to come together.  One can see what kind of success to expect from certain players.  Hitters like Kevin Newman, Kevin Kramer, and Will Craig are hitting the ball well, as to be expected.  Top prospects Austin Meadows and Mitch Keller are off to slow starts, however.  With that being said, this will be a weekly article  Linked will the “Stat Update” from the previous week so you can see the difference from week to week.
