On Monday evening the Pittsburgh Pirates made a pair of roster moves

The revolving door that is the Pittsburgh Pirates’ bullpen keeps spinning. Today, the Pirates recalled right-handed reliever Dovydas Neverauskas from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Additionally, the Pirates added a position player as well. Along with Neverauskas, the Bucs have recalled outfielder Jordan Luplow from Triple-A.

To make room for Neverauskas and Luplow on the 25-man roster, the Pirates placed utility man Adam Frazier on the 10-day disabled list and optioned reliever Johnny Barbato to Triple-A. Frazier went on the disabled list after exiting yesterday’s victory with a hamstring issue.

This will be the fourth Major League stint of the season for Dovydas Neverauskas. So far this season for the Pirates Neverauskas owns a 3.09 ERA, 4.33 FIP, and a 4.10 xFIP in 11 2/3 innings pitched.

His most recent stint in the Majors was his most successful. During this trip to Pittsburgh he allowed just a solo home run, he did not walk a batter, and he struck out 7 in 6 2/3 innings pitched.

This will be Jordan Luplow’s second Major League stint this season. The first time he went 0-for-9, but drew a walk and was not overmatched at the plate.

Dovydas Neverauskas will be relied upon to be a big part of the Pirate bullpen starting in 2018. Hopefully he will continue to pitch well the final month of this season to catapult him into a bigger role in 2018.

As for Jordan Luplow, he could have a good future in the Major Leagues as a fourth outfielder. Possibly, even as a starting outfielder. Hopefully the Bucs will give him plenty of at bats the rest of the season.
