Another home stand is in the books. This week, the Pittsburgh Pirates started a stretch on nine games against the Giants, White Sox and Padres with five wins and six games, but ended with three straight losses to San Diego.

The home stand started with an 11-2 drubbing of the Giants in Andrew McCutchen’s return to the Steel City. The next night, the Pittsburgh Pirates won a much more competitive contest 4-3, but couldn’t complete the sweep Sunday afternoon, as Derek Holland’s arm and Nick Hundley’s bat propelled San Fran to a 5-0 win.

Next on the horizon were the pitiful White Sox. The Bucs pounded Chicago in the series opener, scoring four runs in the first inning and cruising to a 7-0 win. Pittsburgh grinded out a 3-2 W the next day to complete a 4-0 season sweep of the Pale Hoes.

The good vibes continued with a win over the Padres Thursday night but ended with three-straight losses. Here is a review of what went down this past week, based on how the Pirates performed in key aspects of baseball.
