The Pittsburgh Pirates minor league affiliates are about two weeks into their 2019 season already. How are the top 30 prospects performing?
Earlier this month, before the start of the 2019 Minor League season kicked off, we released our 2019 Top 30 Pittsburgh Pirates prospect list. The list was created mainly by looking at the career statistics, 2018 statistics, and future expectations of each prospect in the system.
With that being said, the Pittsburgh Pirates top four minor league affiliates are a few weeks into their season already. Many of the top prospects have been playing and have a decent sample size to look at how they are performing. These updates will be done weekly, usually occurring on Friday. The updates will look at the batter slash lines along with home run totals. For the pitchers, we will look at innings pitched, records, earned run average, and their strikeout to walk ratios. Over the few series that have been played, there are a couple of prospects who have really stood out. The first two are both at Triple-A in Reynolds and Craig. Combined the two prospects have 11 home runs and both are slugging well over .600. The pitcher standing out is rising prospect, Cody Bolton. The 2017 sixth round pick is building on a solid 2018 season where he pitched to a mid 3.00 ERA. Check back next Friday for an update.
