Over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Pirates went to Busch Stadium in St. Louis and picked up their most satisfying series victory of the season thus far

I’ll be the first to admit, I may end up being way wrong about this current Pittsburgh Pirates road trip. When the road trip started the team was coming off a demoralizing 9-6 loss against the Texas Rangers, the pitching staff was a mess, and the schedule on the trip looked brutal.

The road trip started with a brutal 17-4 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night. After this, the Bucs looked destined for a brutal road trip. To the team’s credit, they bounced back the final three days of the series to take 3 of 4 from the Red Birds.

This was the most satisfying series victory of the season thus far for the Pirates. The Pirates are now 7-4-2 in their 13 series played this season. This gives them an overall record of 20-17. It also makes them 4-2 through the first 6 games of a vital 13 games in 13 days stretch, and 3-1 on their current 11 game road trip.

Next up for the Bucs is a trip to Phoenix to play three against the Arizona Diamondbacks. But first, let’s examine the 3 key takeaways from the team’s series victory in St. Louis.
