Following a series loss against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now just 4-10 in their last 14 games

Right now, very little is going right for the Pittsburgh Pirates. After dropping three of four to the Milwaukee Brewers at home this weekend, the team is 4-10 in their last 14 games. This slide has dropped them two games under .500 on the season at 28-30.

With the series loss, the Pirates are now 8-8-3 in the 19 series they have played this season. Dropping three games against their divisional rivals also dropped the team to a woeful 11-17 at home.

It goes without saying that an 11-17 home record is unacceptable. In baseball the key is to win the majority of your home games, while breaking even or going a few games over .500 on the road. While the Pirates are doing more than their part on the road this season – owning a strong 17-13 record away from PNC Park – they must be better at home moving forward.

This series was a tough one for the Pirates. Thursday night, Joe Musgrove continued his recent struggles as the Brewers rolled over the Pirates by a score of 11-6. Friday Chris Archer appeared to be getting back on track in victory and on Saturday the Bucs appeared to be on their way to a very satisfying comeback victory, however, Saturday afternoon wound up being a gut wrenching extra innings loss instead.

Next up for the Bucs is an off day on Monday. This off day will be followed by a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves. Before we start to look ahead to the Braves, let’s take a look back at three key takeaways from their series loss against the Brew Crew.
