While things have not gone well for the Pittsburgh Pirates since Major League Baseball’s All-Star Break, to their credit, they have done a nice job to rebound and give themselves the opportunity to finish the season strong

This week the Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off their penultimate road trip of the 2019 season. The trip started with a four-game series at Oracle Park in San Francisco against the Giants. In the series, the Pirates walked away victorious taking three of four from the Giants.

The series victory was the team’s third in their last six series played. After winning three games by the bay the Pirates are now 13-7 in their last 20 games. Despite the recent hot stretch, the Bucs remain 17 games under .500 on the season at 65-82.

To the team’s credit, they did not just fold and mail in the last few weeks of the season. This would have been easy for them to do, but, instead, they are playing some strong baseball. In addition to being 13-7 in their last 20 games after going 8-30 in their first 38 games after the All-Star Break, they are 6-5 in the month of September.

Next up for the Pirates is a three-game weekend series at Wrigley Field in Chicago and the opportunity to play spoiler for their divisional rival Cubs. But before we look ahead to the Cubbies, let’s take a look back at three takeaways from their series victory in San Francisco.
