The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they will be parting ways with President Frank Coonelly on Wednesday. After 12 years with the organization, it was best for both parties involved to explore other options.

It was first reported by Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette about to firing of Pittsburgh Pirates President Frank Coonelly.

After being with the Pirates for over a decade, it was time for a significant change at the helm of this organization. It all started with them relieving manager Clint Hurdle and pitching coach Ray Searage of their duties after the 2019 season concluded. It appears that the Pirates are willing to make big decisions regarding front office personnel as well as  the coaching staff. They are desperate for a change from the top to the bottom.

The Pirates have announced that they already have a hire in place to take over the Presidents role and will let the public know on Monday. Could that replacement be Neal Huntington? It is not all that farfetched to think Huntington will assume the position at president and there could be an external GM hire.

After a few good seasons and decisions made by Huntington at GM, he has made some very questionable choices in recent years with Chris Archer being most notable. If the Pirates are going to clean house, why stop at the general manager? It is also possible that they could still fire Huntington and start fresh from the front office executives to the managerial position.

It is refreshing if you are a fan of the Pirates, to see them make more uncharacteristic changes among the organization. Hopefully, a World Series will be in their cards in the coming years.
