Taking a look at how new manager Derek Shelton and the rest of the Pittsburgh Pirates graded out for their 2020 season opening series in St. Louis against the Cardinals

Finally, after a long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 MLB season is here. Over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off their 2020 campaign with a three-game series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis against their divisional rival Cardinals.

This series was the first for new manager Derek Shelton at the helm of the Pittsburgh Pirates. So, how did Shelton and the rest of the Pirates grade out during this series? Well, we’re here to answer that very question!

Today we will dish out grades for Shelton and the coaching staff, the starting rotation, bullpen, and Pirate batters for their performances in the season opening series against the Red Birds. Despite losing the series in the Gateway to the West, there were definitely some positives that came out of it for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
