Following a disheartening series loss at PNC Park against the Detroit Tigers, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now 0-5 in their first five series played this season

While no one expecting the Pittsburgh Pirates to compete in 2020, things were not supposed to be this bad. Even the most pessimistic of fans, and there are plenty of those, could have envisioned this kind of a start for the Pirates.

Through their first five series played this season, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now 0-5. Their latest series loss may be the most disheartening one yet. Not only was it yet another series loss at their home ballpark, it came against another team that was expected to be among the worst in MLB – the Detroit Tigers. Adding salt to the wound, the Pirates were swept for the second time this series.

While the Pittsburgh Pirates are continuing to struggle, there are some positives as well. So, we will try and hit on some of those in today’s position grades, too.

As we do throughout the season here at Rum Bunter, we will hand out series grades. The performance of the starting rotation, bullpen and offense for the Pittsburgh Pirates in this series. Now we will start handing out grades, by diving in with the starting rotation.
