The Pittsburgh Pirates have only made one deal so far and the Trade Deadline is just about a day away.  Could they trade their Opening Day Starter?

Major League Baseball’s Trade Deadline takes place Monday at 4:00 PM.  The Pittsburgh Pirates are supposedly going to be one of the more active teams.  There have been multiple reports already that they could make multiples trades.

This makes sense as the Pittsburgh Pirates are only one of the true sellers.  With that being said,  multiple rumors have started up already.  In fact, the team actually was able to complete a trade with the Chicago White Sox, sending veteran outfielder Jarrod Dyson for Internation Cap Space.  The other big Trade news/rumors around the Bucs have been about their starting pitching.  It was also reported that the Toronto Blue Jays were showing interest in Trevor Williams and Chad Kuhl.

Well, those are not the only two starters gaining interest.  According to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a team from the National League East has shown interest in Joe Musgrove.  Mackey tweeted late last night:

Like Mackey says Musgrove is still working back from the Injury List, so it is really hard to envision him being dealt. While at the beginning of the year Musgrove may have made sense as a Deadline piece, it is hard to expect to get full value right now.  So the Pittsburgh Pirates may want to consider letting him show his arm is healthy down the stretch and look to move him at the Deadline.

Next. Could the team make a deal with CHW?. dark

Still, if there is a team that could offer the value for Musgrove, it would be the Atlanta Braves.  The Braves have one of the top farm systems in Baseball, several close to MLB-ready catching and pitching prospects that would interest the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Now the Braves did acquire pitcher Tommy Malone, but that should not affect their interest in Musgrove.
