As the 4:00 PM EST trade deadline approaches, there appears to be increasing interest around one of the most versatile players the Pittsburgh Pirates have

In a little under 7 hours, the 2020 MLB trade deadline will arrive. Teams must complete trades by 4:00 PM EST on Monday afternoon, or else wait until the off-season. The Pittsburgh Pirates figure to be one of the more active teams in baseball on Monday.

Of the players the Pittsburgh Pirates could look to sell on Monday, one of the names that has come up most has been second baseman/utility man Adam Frazier. Throughout the off-season general manager Ben Cherington discussed Frazier in trade talks, and he was a player we predicted would be traded today.

According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, Frazier is generating buzz in early morning trade talks.

As Heyman mentioned, Frazier, along with other potential Pirate trade chips, are off to slow starts this season which could potentially impact their trade value. That said, as Heyman also pointed out, Frazier has a track record with both his offense and defensive flexibility.

Frazier is hitting for just a .202/.242/.325 slash line to go with a 54 OPS+ and a wRC+ of 59. However, the 2019 Gold Glove Award finalist is once again playing a strong defensive second base and looked good in the outfield over the weekend. This was undoubtedly a move by the Pittsburgh Pirates to showcase Frazier’s versatility.

Despite his slow start at the plate, Frazier still owns a .274/.336/.413 slash line to go with a OPS+ and wRC+ of 99 for his career. While these are league average offensive numbers, when you combine his plus defense it gives Frazier a life time 6.1 bWAR.
