Outfielder Jhon Torres

Jhon Torres is the other top 10 organizational prospect, ranked at number by the St. Louis Cardinals. Torres is still a fairly young prospect. 2021 will be his age 21 season. Torres is considered to have lots of power. He has a 60 future game and 65 future raw power grades, however he hasn’t put up insane power numbers yet throughout the minors.

In 620 career minor league plate appearances, Torres has a .271/.368/.445 line with 19 home runs. He posts great walk rates drawing 73 walks, but also strikeouts a decent amount with 143 strikeouts. He also is considered to have an average hit tool with a 50 future grade. Fielding wise, the outfielder has a 50 future fielding grade, but a cannon of an arm with a 60 current/future throw grade. His speed is his worst tool, but it’s not awful with a 50 current and 40 future grade. He has a 6-foot-4, 199 pound frame and can move when he needs to.

Torres would be a nice add because of his power. The Pittsburgh Pirates are really lacking power bats in their organization. Very few of their prospects project as future elite power hitters. Selecting someone with so much power potential would be a nice add for the team.
