With MLB’s Winter Meetings set to kick off virtually this weekend, here are three goals for Ben Cherington and the Pittsburgh Pirates entering the meetings

As 2020 continues to be different than any other year, this will apply to the 2020 MLB Winter Meetings as well. The meetings are set to kick off virtually on Sunday evening. Entering the meets, general manager Ben Cherington will undoubtedly have an agenda of what he wants to accomplish for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Every year MLB’s Winter Meetings sees signings and free agent signings take place. While the Pittsburgh Pirates were not very active in Cherington’s first Witner Meetings as GM last December, all signs point toward this year being a different story.

So far this offseason the Pittsburgh Pirates have cut ties with some roster regulars. Starting pitcher Trevor Williams, utility man Jose Osuna and reliever Dovydas Neverauskas were all designated for assignment.

During the upcoming MLB Winter Meetings will fans see more players depart from the Pittsburgh Pirates? Will Cherington and his staff look to add players to both the 40-man roster and the orgnization as a whole. Here are three things that the Pirates should be looking to accomplish at the meetings.
