Ladies and gentlemen, we will have Pittsburgh Pirates baseball this month. In just 16 days, the Pirates will kick off their 2021 Spring Training schedule when they travel to Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota to battle the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, February 28.

There will be Pirate baseball this month! Woo hoo!

The Pittsburgh Pirates will play their first game at LECOM Park in Bradenton on Tuesday, March 1, when they host the Detroit Tigers. This will be the first of 15 home games at LECOM Park this spring for the Pirates. As is the norm, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh will broadcast plenty of Pirate Spring Training games.

Even though the 2021 season projects to be another poor one in terms of wins and losses for the Pirates, this should still be an exciting Spring Training. The Pirates have already announced that fans will be allowed back at LECOM Park this spring, marking the first time the Pirates have played in front of fans since before Grapefruit League play was shutdown by the COVID-19 pandemic last March.

Additionally, the Pirates non-roster invitees to MLB camp this spring is littered with some of the best prospects in the organization. This will create for excitement this spring as fans will get a good look at the future of the Pirates.

Most of all, it will just be great to have baseball back. This time of year the desire for summertime and baseball season reaches, no pun intended, a fever pitch as we trudge through the dead of winter. With Pirate baseball set to be played this month, the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel.

Finally, Spring Training is right around the corner. Pitchers and catchers will report to Bradenton this upcoming Wednesday, February 17, while the first full squad workout will be five days later on February 22. You can see the entire Spring Training schedule for the Pittsburgh Pirates here.
