The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced with AT&T sport the schedule for televised game this spring.  The first aired game is Monday.

There will be three ways to keep up with the Pittsburgh Pirates this spring, by way of online, the radio, or through AT&T Sportsnet.  The club released their schedule today, with their first game tomorrow against the Baltimore Orioles on 93.7 The Fan.  Their first game that will be available to watch is on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays, which will air online at pirates.com.  The first game that will be televised on AT&T Sportsnet will be Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers at 1:00pm.

Judging by the list, every Pittsburgh Pirates spring training game is available in some fashion.  Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette mentions that 14 will be televised and 18 on the radio (where the radio is a combination of 93.7 The Fan and KDKA-AM 1020.

On the television side, Kevin Young and Matt Capps will join Michael McKenry this season in replacing former pitcher Steve Blass as part of the broadcasting crew.  McKenry was in his first season last year after replacing Kent Tekulve on the Pirates pre and post game show.  The original plan was for Young and Capps to be part of this crew last year, but plans changed with the pandemic and 60 game schedule.

Young spent 11 of 12 Major League seasons with the Pirates, where he hit .259/.324/.437 and last playing in 2003.  He’s been a special instructor in Bradenton for the Pirates in the past, helping and putting in work with first baseman.  Capps is a former closer for the Pirates and is a former seventh round pick in 2002.  The right-hander posted a career 3.61 ERA and 67 saves for the organization before being non-tendered after 2009.  He finished his career in 2012 with a 3.52 ERA and 138 saves over eight big league seasons.
