In the late episode of Rum Bunter Radio the RBR crew discussed some early Spring Training highlights and storylines for the Pittsburgh Pirates

After an offseason full of headlines, Spring Training 2021 is here, signaling the beginning of the 2021 season for the Pittsburgh Pirates and all of Major League Baseball.

In this episode of Rum Bunter Radio, Marty, Nick and Trey discuss every major story surrounding the organization as they find themselves through their first two weeks of spring ball.

To begin the show a conversation breaks out on the outfield battle that has surfaced since the team arrived in Bradenton. After injuries riddled the Pittsburgh Pirates outfield this past season, having five to six players compete for three spots is a “good” problem for the team to have at this point in the year.

Who will emerge? Is it the red-hot bat of Gregory Polanco? Or will a new-comer like Troy Stokes Jr. rise to the challenge and find consistent innings with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season? Regardless, the bat of Bryan Reynolds has been back so far this spring training and he looks to be the leader of this outfield in 2021.

After a major overhaul of the pitching rotation this past season, who will the Pirates turn to as their starting five this summer? Several spots are already locked down by way of Chad Kuhl and Mitch Keller, but there’s still a fifth spot for the taking.

As the show continues the crew re-evaluates the trades that were made this past offseason, and who the “way too early” winners and losers are.

So far the crop of headlines out of Bradenton have been positive; guys showing a lot of energy, and working together well. To close out the show although, the guys highlight the things they believe Pittsburgh still needs to work on the most as we creep closer to Opening Day 2021.

Batten down the hatches, clear the decks, Rum Bunter Radio episode 45 is here, and it is full of storylines!
