Wednesday morning, MLB Pipeline finally decided to drop their top 30 prospects for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and I’m here to discuss it with you.

After weeks and weeks of patiently waiting for MLB Pipeline to release their top 30 prospect list for the Pittsburgh Pirates the day has finally come. Wednesday morning the list was revealed. You have no idea how many early mornings we had in my household looking for the news that never would come, it seemed (my fiancé wasn’t the happiest of campers).

Now that the list is out it shows just how far the Pittsburgh Pirates have come in such a short period of time with Ben Cherington and Steve Sanders running the show. Before I reveal the list, I want to point out that nearly half of the top 30 players named on the Pirate list were acquired by trade, which according to MLB Pipeline, is the most of any other club this year.

Ok, ok, enough dilly-dallying and get to the list already! My goodness, you guys are so impatient, but I will oblige and give you the list anyways.

TOP 30
1. Ke’Bryan Hayes
2. Nick Gonzales
3. Quinn Priester
4. O’Neil Cruz
5. Liover Peguero
6. Hudson Head
7. Tahnaj Thomas
8. Brennan Malone
9. Travis Swaggerty
10. Cody Bolton

Can I just point out that five out of the top 10 so far have been first-round picks?! If their rankings have any indication of what they will do in the future then, for the first time in a long time, the future is a very bright one for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

11. Carmen Mlodzinski
12. Miguel Yajure
13. Eddy Yean
14. Ji-Hwan Bae
15. Mason Martin
16. Jared Oliva
17. Jared Jones
18. Cal Mitchel
19. Sammy Siani
20. Roasny Contreras
21. Nick Garcia
22. Braxton Ashcraft
23. Wil Crowe
24. Omar Cruz
25. Jose Soriano
26. Canna Smith-Njigba
27. Endy Rodriguez
28. Max Kranick
29. Micheal Burrows
30. Alexander Mojica

Who’s new on the 2021 list?

New names on this list include like, Head, Yajure, Yean, Contreras, Crowe, Omar Cruz, Soriano, Smith-Njigba, and Rodriguez. Each of these players were acquired by Cherington and Pirate fans can finally start to feel what a good, and real rebuild looks like even though no one in the organization will say the word.

Later on this week you will most likely see someone ranked closer to 30 that I think could be a big mover this year and make some buzz. Other than that, I must say in the 25 years I’ve been on this earth, I have never felt as excited about this system than I am right now!
