In this episode of RBR, staff writer Noah Writer hops on the mic with Marty Leap as they had the chance to sit down with rising prospect Bligh Madris. Bligh is was a 9th round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017.
After an offseason spent across the globe in the island continent of Australia, Bligh came home with many stories of his unique experience. Getting the chance to play so far away from home helped him soak the game in and learn new things about himself and his teammates, being joined by several other Pirate prospects.
Madris talked about the bonding experience and how it’s helped shaped relationships within the organization.
Returning home to a much more regular looking spring Bligh told the guys he’s keeping an open mind heading into the season. What does it mean to a minor leaguer to get back to action? For Bligh it was an excellent opportunity to catch up with old friends, saying the reunion is like seeing 70 of your best friends for the first time in a year.
As the episode continued the conversation shifted to the big league club, and what’s to come with the young crop of talent.Looking at it from a couple levels down Bligh is excited about the future of Pirates baseball, and emphasizes the trust shown throughout the organization.
