In this episode of Rum Bunter Radio Marty and Trey welcome in staff writer Vincent Spallone to discuss all things Pittsburgh Pirates baseball
The Pittsburgh Pirates have now won four of their previous five games, the last two coming against preseason consensus frontrunner San Diego.
What’s been the key to success? It begins with starting pitching. The Pittsburgh Pirates have received outstanding efforts from young starters like Mitch Keller and JT Brubaker over the last week, and had those followed up by bounce back performances from Trevor Cahill and Tyler Anderson.
How will the Pirates use Cahill the remainder of his time in Pittsburgh? Is this the Keller we will see moving forward?
The outfield has shown progress all the way around from last season so far…unless your name is Anthony Alford. Alford, in nineteen at bats, is still hitless, and unfortunately his time in the big leagues may be running out.
On the right side Gregory Polanco has shown signs of life after a slow start. The crew discuss his future, and whether or not the Pirates will decide to deal him in July.
To close out the show the trio previews the upcoming series in Milwaukee, and the challenges the always difficult Miller Park will bring. Chad Kuhl, being the Sunday starter, is looking to bounce back after a rough start in game one against the Padres. While Trevor Cahill and JT Brubaker look to double up their stellar performances from last time out.
Batten down the hatches, clear the decks, the Pittsburgh Pirates are only two games out of first place. (For now)
