This weekend at PNC Park the Pittsburgh Pirates will host the Miami Marlins in a four-game series as the Bucs look to get back on track

Following a strong 12-11 start to the season the Pittsburgh Pirates have hit one hell of a rough patch. After being swept in two-game series by the Kansas City Royals earlier this week the Pirates are now 8-23 in their last 31 games played.

This 8-23 slide has dropped the Pittsburgh Pirates to 20-34 on the season. A big reason for the slide the Pirates are currently on has been injuries. Three of the team’s key hitters – Ke’Bryan Hayes, Colin Moran and Phillip Evans – have all been on the injured list since at least early May, with Hayes having played in just two games this season.

As we will get into, thankfully, the Pittsburgh Pirates appear to be on the brink of getting healthy. This can only be a positive for the Pirates with a brutal June schedule looming. Before the June schedule takes a brutal turn the Bucs will host the Marlins at PNC Park for a four-game series this weekend.

While the Marlins made the postseason last season they enter this series with just a 24-30 record. With the Marlins also being a dub-.500 club, hopefully, the Pirates will be able to take advantage and capture a series victory this weekend.
