As the Pittsburgh Pirates continue to rebuild and look to compete in future seasons, they have one player who could gain interest.

With Ben Cherington and the Pittsburgh Pirates making plenty of trades this offseason, the full rebuild began. One player that was expected to be traded was second baseman Adam Frazier. Obviously, Frazier started the season with club but his market could be hitting up. He’s performed well this season.

Despite going 1-6 in yesterday’s game, Frazier is still batting .333/.396/.471 and ranking third in the batting crown race. He has a history of being at least an average offensive performer in the past while playing gold glove defense. This year the bat has really played and he could be of interest to many teams as strikeouts are increasing throughout the game but Frazier remains a low strike out player.

One team is the New York Yankees, who have struggled against left-handed pitcher while Frazier has hit .344 against them this season. He provides the ability to play both second and left field, be an above average bat, and hit left-handers well. This is something the JP Morosi of MLB Network tweeted out, mentioning the club’s poor performance from second baseman as well.

It’s not just the Yankees that could use Frazier.  Any team looking to upgrade their bench or utility role, or as a starter at second, could use him. As the game moves more toward hitting, the Pirates second baseman is more attractive. He has one and a half years of club control remaining and could bring back solid pieces.

Overall, Adam Frazier should have a strong trade market this year. He’s hitting the ball well and provides the ability to play multiple positions. Add in the team control and low salary, and his trade market is shaping up strongly this summer.
