The Pittsburgh Pirates will be on the clock with the top pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.  Who will the team take with their first day picks?

For months we have been dropping articles trying to prep for the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft. The Pittsburgh Pirates and their new Front Office have a big opportunity to add elite talent to the minor league system.  This includes them having the first overall pick and the largest bonus pool to spend on potential picks.

The 2021 Major League Baseball Draft is three weeks away and with it the Pittsburgh Pirates will be under the microscope.  They should be.  A big part of the new regimes’ approach with the public has been trying to sell that they can rebuild this team to be competitive. That starts with drafting well, something the previous regime was average at best.

The Bucs have a significant opportunity to acquire some legitimate talent.  On day one, which is July 11th, the team will be set to make three selections.  In addition to their top pick, the team also has the 37th overall pick (second round), and the 64th pick (Competitive Balance Round B). The extra pick is huge for the Bucs as only a certain number of teams are awarded those picks.  This gives them team extra bonus pool flexibility and, of course, another prospect.  So who could they target with their top three picks?  Here is 2021 Mock Draft 1.0:
