The Pittsburgh Pirates are hot on the trading block right now as they traded Adam Frazier on Sunday afternoon, and traded away Clay Holmes on Monday evening.

Ben Cherington and the Pittsburgh Pirates have made it clear this season that they would be sellers at this year’s deadline and with four days to go they are already making big moves. Yesterday the club traded away All-Star Adam Frazier to San Diego and today they turned around and traded Clay Holmes to the Yankees.

The Yankees announced on their official Twitter page that they are sending the Pirates two infielders, Diego Castillo and Hoy Park, in exchange for the Pirates reliever.

Holmes has been bad, to say the least for the Pirates this year so it is surprising that they got anyone back for him especially after flat-out releasing Kyle Crick last week. Holmes had a 4.93 ERA and a FIP of 4.06 this season with the Pirates, which is not good at all.

The prospects that the Pirates got back both have been good contributors for the Somerset Patriots this season in Double-A, as well as the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre so they look like a very promising return. This is promising especially when the Pirates only gave up a struggling Holmes who probably would have been released soon anyhow.

There are still four days left before the trade deadline and the Pirates still have Richard Rodriguez, Tyler Anderson, Chasen Shreve, and more to deal. This is gonna be a crazy few days, so stay tuned here at RumBunter for all the latest news and breakdowns of all the trades that happen.
