The Rum Bunter Radio crew breaks down the Pittsburgh Pirates Trade Deadline and looks at points of interest for the rest of the way.
The show starts with a discussion on Ben Cherrington’s deadline strategy. Then they break down what to think about the Pittsburgh Pirates trades of guys like Adam Frazier, Richard Rodriguez, and some of the smaller deals.
As Pirates fans, we knew this deadline would be important, but equally as important as signing this year’s draft picks. GMBC was a wizard at the draft this year. He confused some fans with his number one overall pick but took away any confusion with what he did the rest of the way.
The guys talk about how this was possible. They then break down where they expect to see all of the youngsters to be placed. With so much young talent the PIrates could be facing Rule 5 hell this offseason, how will they handle this?
After the recent trades, and signings, team news took a bit of a backseat this week. Although it was an important one as we saw the return of Steven Brault and Mitch Keller.
Keller, who has been working at Triple-A for the last month or so, struggled in his return. Is this the end of Keller’s time in PIttsburgh? This conversation has been ongoing, but after his return to crew makes a case for why Mitch Keller should be turned around this offseason.
To close out the show the hosts do some time traveling and layout why things turned the way they did, and why the PIrates are calling Ben Cherrington their general manager. Could just one or two draft picks have changed everything for the previous regime? Find out why Cole Tucker may have been the first domino in a set.
