With a farm system so deep, some prospects are bound to get forgotten. So let’s give some attention to these two underrated Pittsburgh Pirates prospects.

The Pittsburgh Pirates farm system is extremely deep. According to FanGraphs, they have 61 total 35+ FV prospects. That’s the second most among any MLB team. They have the most 40 FV or higher prospects as well. When you look at their system, the first names that come to mind are probably Nick Gonzales, Liover Peguero, Quinn Priester, or Roansy Contreras. Maybe a newer name like Henry Davis, or Bubba Chandler.

But there are some prospects who aren’t getting enough credit for their talent. They aren’t just underrated, but underappreciated. Maybe they’re not the flashiest of names, or they’re buried under a wealth of prospects at the same position. It’s pretty easy to look at a lower ranked prospect like pitcher and under-appreciate their potential when the Pirates have a deep well of young pitchers like Priester, Brennan Malone, Chandler, Miguel Yajure, and Contreras.

Because the Pittsburgh Pirates have so many prospects at every position, some are bound to get swept under the rug. Today, let’s give a spotlight to two Pirates prospects who don’t get enough love despite being pretty talented young players.
